Engine Dyno
Powertech Dyno Service is Mid Michigan's source for snowmobile engine dynamometer testing. Carl Galloway invested a lot of time and money into developing one of the most advanced snowmobile dyno facilities around capable of measuring power over 300 horsepower. Dyno testing is the best way to tune a stock or modified engine for proper jetting, clutching, and chassis set up. You can see first hand what kind of power and torque your engine makes and at what RPM range. It's a great way to test performance upgrades to verify horsepower claims. All makes and models of snowmobiles can be tested on the dyno at Powertech. Weekday and occasional weekend appointments are available. $75 an hour with a minimum charge of two hours. Contact Carl Galloway at (989) 224-6173 to make an appointment today! Located just north of Lansing in St. Johns Michigan.

Track Dyno
Dunn Performance is Mid Michigan's source for snowmobile track dynamometer testing. Don't spend all winter trying to figure out the clutching on your sled in the snow when you can see first hand what your adjustments do on the dyno. Most customers pick up a large amount of power to the track by utilizing this technology. Winters are short don't get left behind by an inferior clutch set up. All makes and models of snowmobiles can be run on the dyno at Dunn Performance. $200 for snowmobile hookup and two hours, then $65 an hour flat rate. Contact Dave Dunn at (616) 299-6590 to make an appointment today! Located just north of Grand Rapids in Howard City Michigan.

Engine Coatings
|
|
Big Thunder coatings provide cost effective added performance and protection to your engine. Coatings are used to solve the problems of wear, heat, friction and corrosion. We provide ceramic thermal barrier coating, dry film lubricants and oil shedding coatings to internal engine components. These coatings help improve the durability of your race or trail engine.
We can coat new and used pistons.
BT-2 Coating:
Applications: Piston Tops, Combustion Chambers, and Exhaust Valves
For naturally aspirated, nitrous, turbo, and supercharged engines BT-2 is a ceramic thermal barrier coating designed to protect your piston and cylinder head. Coated pistons will run cooler and retain much more of their tensile strength. BT-2 protects against high temperature oxidation, eliminates hot spots, and encourages proper flame travel. Ceramic will also spread the heat evenly over the entire coated surface reducing detonation, pre-ignition and allowing the use of lower octane fuel. Less heat is conducted through the wrist pins and rods keeping the crank, bearings, and entire bottom end much cooler.
BT-3 Coating:
Application: Piston Skirts
BT-3 is a dry film lubricant that retains oil while reducing friction and heat. BT-3 Coating allows for the use of tighter clearances without scuffing, resulting in less blow-by increased horsepower and less wear on cylinder walls and piston s. It also provides back-up lubrication if your primary lubrication fails or has gone beyond its load limits. Unlike the simple "break in" skirt coatings that are offered by piston manufacturers and OEM's, BT-3 is designed to be a permanent solid film lubricant coating.
BT-5 Coating:
Applications: Crankshaft Counter Weights, and Rods
Non-stick, non-wetting, oil shedding coating increases RPM acceleration and horsepower by reducing friction and drag-related windage power losses.

Fabrication
Big Thunder Performance has fabrication capabilities. We have the ability to perform many tasks from welding a crack in your aluminum bulkhead to adding material to your cylinders or case for porting purposes or building light weight suspension components for racing. Contact us with any of your aluminum or metal fabrication needs. $65 hour labor rate for all fabrication and welding.
Cylinder Repair and Replating
Do you have a damaged cylinder? Don't go out and buy a new one Big Thunder Performance can replate it for you. We can repair almost any damaged cylinder to new condition for a fraction of the cost. Big Thunder Performance uses Millennium Technologies for all our replating work. The damaged cylinders will be bead blasted to remove any contaminates, old plating will be stripped off, any repair work will be completed, then a fresh new nikasil coating will be applied. All replated cylinders are finish honed to factory specs and a nice cross hatch is applied for excellent ring break in. Your cylinder will look brand new and the new plating is actually harder for more wear resistance. Turnaround time varies from one to two weeks depending on time of season. Prices vary depending on extent of damage. Call for a quote today!
